The FTerm adapter is a hardened adapter that provides a reliable interface for hardened drop cables in the outside plant environment. The FTerm adapter is designed to protect against moisture, extreme temperature, chemical and UV exposure that occur in the outside plant environment. The adapter provides compatibility with a wide range of SC/APC and OptiTap connectors. FTerm adapters are utilized in multi-port fiber terminals and fiber terminal closures. The adapters can also be utilized as an interface at the ONT (Optical Network Terminal) located at the subscribers premises. The FTerm adapter significantly reduces installation time and cost, by allowing for rapid connection through use of rugged drop cables.

Typically, the FTerm adapter is installed in an opening in an enclosure or terminal. O-rings and washers prevent moisture intrusion and provide sealing to the bulkhead of the terminal. The adapter design includes a tethered dust cap which seals the adapter port until connection of a rugged drop cable.
